Historic District Commission (3-year term)
The Historic District Commission follows the United States Secretary of the Interior's standards for rehabilitation and guidelines for rehabilitating historic buildings, as set forth in 36 CFR 67.
The Historic District Commission will review plans for proposed major changes to open spaces in a historic district. The Historic District Commission may use its discretion to decide if proposed changes are major in nature or not.
The Historic District Commission will review and act upon:
  1. The historic or architectural value and significance of the resource and its relationship to the historic value of the surrounding area;
  2. The relationship to the historic architectural features of such resource to the rest of the resource and to the surrounding area;
  3. The general compatibility of the exterior design, arrangement, texture and materials proposed to be used;
  4. To any other factor, including aesthetics, which it deems pertinent.
The Historic District Commission consists of seven members whose residence is located in the city. They are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council for terms of three-years.
